Alchemy Edit!
I’m Alex, the editor behind Alchemy Edit. I work across a variety of genres, but literary fiction, fantasy, and romance are where my heart truly lies.
Here, editing is a kind of alchemy—a collaboration between us where your imagination and my editorial care combine to create something stronger, brighter, and ready for the world.
My approach is collaborative and supportive, with the goal of helping your voice and vision shine through every page. I’ll walk alongside you every step of the way, so your words can become the story you’ve always wanted to share.
I specialize in developmental editing to help your story grow stronger at its core and line and copy editing to bring clarity and flow to your prose. However you choose to work with me, my aim is simple: to turn your draft into a story that shines.
FAQ
-
Editing is an investment in your story, and the cost depends on the type of support your manuscript needs, whether it’s a final proofread, a polish for style and flow, or an in-depth developmental edit. To keep things transparent, I’ve outlined all my rates on my Services page. Head there to see what best fits your book and budget!
-
Timelines vary by project, but here’s what you can generally expect:
Proofreading: 1–2 weeks
Developmental Editing: 3–5weeks
Line and Copy Editing: 4–8 weeks for a full manuscript
I’ll work with you to provide a timeline that fits your needs and ensures the best results for your manuscript. Turnaround times also depend on my current schedule, so I recommend reaching out early to secure a spot.
-
I do! To reserve your spot, I ask for 25% up front, with the rest due at the end of the edit. That said, I know every author’s budget looks different. so I’m flexible with how and when the remaining payments are split. The goal is to make sure editing feels doable, not stressful.

It depends on what stage your manuscript is in! If your story is solid and you just want a final polish before publishing, proofreading may be all you need. If you’d like help with flow, style, grammar, and clarity, a copy/line edit is a better fit. And if you’re still shaping the structure, pacing, or character arcs, a developmental edit (or my bundled package) will give you big-picture guidance plus sentence-level refinement. Not sure? Reach out and tell me a little about your book, and I’ll help you find the best fit.
-
Absolutely! I’m happy to provide a free sample edit on a few pages of your manuscript. This gives you a chance to see my editing style in action and decide if it’s the right fit for your book before committing to a full project. It also helps me recommend the editing package that best meets your needs. The best way to get started is by filling out my Google Form.
